New members must reach a minimum post count to be able to participate in the Exchange. It is suggested that you use a service like PayPal so that you have options in the event of a problem in your dealings with other members. All transactions are at your own risk.

Your nickname/code name may not be indecent or obscene. You may also not use the name of any business without permission from management or ownership of that business. The information provided to us when you register will not be sold or given to a third party without your consent.
Harassment, hate speech and inappropriate content should be reported. If you feel someone's behavior is inappropriate, be wise and talk with a trusted adult, or report it to MyHockeySpace or the authorities.  Members or users using any of the above will be removed from the website. Remember that nothing you write on the Web is completely private -- including e-mail. So be careful and think about what you type and who you tell.
Don't forget that your profile and MyHockeySpace forums are public spaces. Don't post anything you wouldn't want the world to know (e.g., your phone number, address, IM screens name, or specific whereabouts). Avoid posting anything that would make it easy for a stranger or unwanted friend to find you, such as where you hang out or your place of residence. Remember never to give out personal information such as your name, home address, school name, or telephone number in a chat room or on bulletin boards. Also, never send a picture of yourself to someone you chat with on the computer without your parent's permission. Keep your passwords private, even from your best friend! Your online service will never ask for them, so neither should anyone else. Use only your log-in name and/or e-mail address when chatting or sending e-mail. Never give out personal information like your name, address, or phone number.
Be as anonymous as possible. Avoid postings that could enable a stranger to locate you. That includes your last name, the name of your school, sports teams, the town you live in, and where you hang out.
Protect your info. Check to see if your service has a "friends" list that allows you to control who can visit your profile or blog. If so, allow only people you know and trust. If you don't use privacy features, anyone can see your info, including people with bad intentions.
People aren't always who they say they are. Be careful about adding strangers to your friends list. It's fun to connect with new MyHockeySpace members/friends from all over the world, but avoid meeting people in person whom you do not fully know. If you must meet someone, do it in a public place and bring a friend or trusted adult. Never write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable or scared. Do not meet someone or have them visit you. Don't share photos of yourself, your family, or your home with people you meet online. If a person writes something that is mean or makes you feel uncomfortable, don't respond. Just log off and tell your parents, who can report it to your online service provider. Not everyone is as nice, cute, and funny as they may sound online. Never make plans to meet an online "friend" in person.
Avoid in-person meetings. Don't get together with someone you "meet" in a profile or blog unless you are certain of their actual identity. Although it's still not risk-free, if you do meet the person, arrange the meeting in a public place and bring some friends along.
Don't post anything that would embarrass you later. Think twice before posting a photo, video or information you wouldn't want your parents, friends or your boss to see! Once posted we cannot control duplication of public information. Always delete unknown e-mail attachments without opening them. They can contain destructive viruses. Although MyHockeySpace is public, teens sometimes think that adults can't see what they post. Tell them that they shouldn't post photos or info they wouldn't want adults to see.
Photos: Think before posting. What's uploaded to the Net can be downloaded by anyone and passed around or posted online pretty much forever. Avoid posting photos that allow people to identify you (for example, when they're searching for your high school), especially sexually suggestive images. Before uploading a photo, think about how you'd feel if it were seen by a parent/grandparent, college admissions counselor, or future employer.
Don't mislead people into thinking that you're older or younger. Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that "she" is a "12-year-old girl" could really be an older man. If you are under 14 and pretend to be older, MyHockeySpace will delete your profile. If you are over 18 and pretend to be a teenager to contact underage users, MyHockeySpace will delete your profile. MyHockeySpace members must be 6 years of age or older (parental guidance recommended for members under 14). We take extra precautions to protect our younger members and we are not able to do so if they do not identify themselves as such. MyHockeySpace will delete users whom we find to be younger than 14, or those misrepresenting their age.
Be honest about your age. Membership rules are there to protect people. If you are too young to sign up, do not attempt to lie about your age. Talk with your parents about alternative sites that may be appropriate for you.
Myhockeyspace is not a dating forum. This site was developed for hockey forums, posting pictures, videos, and hockey chats. Do not post pictures or videos of anything that is not hockey related.
Don't get hooked by a phishing scam.  Phishing is a method used by fraudsters to try to get your personal information, such as your username and password, by pretending to be a site you trust.
Check comments regularly. If you allow them on your profile or blog, check them often. Don't respond to mean or embarrassing comments. Delete them and, if possible, block offensive people from commenting further.
MyHockeySpace is a popular online hangout because the site makes it easy for them to express themselves and keep in touch with their friends.
